  • Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated UUID that cannot be linked to your identity
  • Extension Events: When you complete screenshots, use redaction tools, or encounter errors
  • Performance Data: How long operations take (to improve speed)
  • Website Domains: Only for whitelisted sites — all other domains are hashed and cannot be identified
  • Extension Version: To help us fix bugs and improve features

1.2 Local Storage Data

  • Analytics Preference: Whether you've opted in to anonymous analytics
  • Anonymous User ID: Generated locally and never shared
  • Hashing Salt: A unique per-install identifier for privacy protection

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Analytics (Optional)

  • Understand which features are most useful
  • Identify and fix bugs and performance issues
  • Improve the extension's reliability and user experience
  • Make informed decisions about future features

2.2 Website Domain Privacy

  • Unknown Domains: Hashed with a unique per-install salt
  • Whitelisted Domains Only: Only plaintext domains for major platforms (like ChatGPT, GitHub)
  • No Cross-User Correlation: Each user's data is completely isolated

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. The only data transmission is anonymous analytics (if you opt in), sent securely to our Supabase database. No personal data is collected, and no tracking technologies (cookies, pixels) are used.

4. Your Rights and Controls

  • Opt-Out Anytime: Disable analytics in the extension popup or options page
  • Reset Anonymous ID: Generate a new anonymous identifier anytime
  • Clear Local Data: Uninstall the extension to remove all local data
  • No Account Required: The extension works without creating any accounts

5. Data Security

  • Client-Side Hashing: Sensitive data is hashed before transmission
  • HTTPS Encryption: All data transmission is encrypted
  • Minimal Data Collection: We only collect what's necessary
  • Local Storage: Most data stays on your device

6. Children's Privacy

SnapItDropIt is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

  • Event Types: snap_completed, snap_failed, redaction_used, extension_installed, options_opened
  • Data Fields: anon_user_id, event, timestamp, props (redaction details, output type, attach method), success/failure status, app_version
  • Privacy Fields: hostname (hashed), hostname_salt (per-install), domain_value (processed)
  • Retention: Data is retained indefinitely for analytics but can be deleted upon request
